A wonderful experience

We spent 9 nights here, in the room with a balcony, #28. It had a very large and wonderful bathroom, a nice bed, and the best view of the city rooftops and church towers.
For us one of the best features was the wonderful staff, all of whom were just so helpful and sincere in making our stay perfect. They were able to help us through our limited use of the Italian language, answer questions, and simply make our stay pleasant.
The room was quiet, had a lot of storage, and afforded us the opportunity to take the two small chairs onto the balcony to read and just enjoy viewing the city or listening to the wonderful church bells. It was very well sealed against the noise of the bells if the balcony door or the window were closed. Completely dark at night, if the bathroom door was closed.
The breakfast was typically Italian (for tourists), and the caffe' was exactly what we liked, whether it was served during breakfast or in the evening when we got back from dinner and the stroll (La Passeggiata), which in Arezzo is simply a wonderful event to participate in each evening.
We chose to walk down the 4 flights each time we left, and use the elevator on the way up. While not in a particularly historic building, it was inside the walls, and very close to shopping, restaurants, and the train station. A very short walk to the trains or buses. The city was a good base from which to take day trips, and even during one drizzly day it was easy to get back and forth to the hotel. Look on Google Maps for some pictures, and you will see how easy it is to find and walk to.
Absolutely loved staying there, and enjoyed all of the staff we met.
“Italian comfort”
My 6th visit to this hotel. it is a pleasure to escape the large chains and enjoy a well run, clean and welcoming small hotel in a facinating city in Tuscany. While considered minimalistic it has good comfortable beds,a fantastic breakfast, and personal attention to your comfort and well being. It is a wondeerful escape from the sterile sameness of the chains . Location in the heart of Arezzo with esay walking access to the train station and the beauty that this Tuscany town can offer. What makes a great hotel? its the people that work there and this one fits the bill with warmth and character.

Thankyou to everyone at Hotel Portici, Arezzo for a lovely stay at your hotel. On our honeymoon, we arrived planning to stay for one night and in the end stayed a week. Special thanks to Daniel for being a wonderful host.

“Everything! The hotel is very convenient to the train station - only a very easy 5 minute walk with luggage! The hotel is nicely decorated and has a wonderful historic feel. The staff were extremely friendly and very helpful - also spoke excellent English! The breakfast buffet was a feast with a variety of breads, sweets, meats, cheeses, eggs and juices. The location was within easy walking distance of San Francesco, Piazza Grande, the Duomo and other sights in Arezzo. We will definitely stay at Hotel I Portici on our next visit to Arezzo!!”

“I had a wonderful room: a big one, very quiete (as I asked), and with a beatiful view on the roof of Arezzo. I found a very good price on Booking and I'm really satisfied.”

Everything. Staff went beyond duty. From upgrading us to a suite, to taking us back when our reservation at a nearby villa was cancelled; and it was a holiday weekend! We'll be back in Arezzo and we'll stay back in this hotel. Everything perfect.

Loved the old world authentic design and the high quality materials used to decorate the rooms and bathrooms.
Can't think of anything negative! Maybe MORE rooms other than 8?

If you go to italy, go to Arezzo. If you go to Arezzo, stay at Portici. The staff is far beyond helpful. They did me professional favors that significantly helped with my work, and I will always be grateful. Wonderful place and people. Truly!

We chose the hotel because of its location in Arezzo. The room was really a suite with a spacious bedroom (which included a couch), a spacious bathroom with a full Jacuzzi bath and bidet, and a small dressing room. The quality of the decorations and furnishings were top notch. It is located on the top floor which is quiet and has great views. Because we got one of the 2 parking spots, we were parked right across the street from the hotel.

From the exit of the highway you just have to follow the signs to the center and at the end of the slip road, go straight in until the end of the street. At the second exit of a roundabout You immediately find on your left the arcades where the entrance is! Location, space in rooms, breakfast was very good, staff that was incredibly friendly, no noise from other rooms. It's easy to reach it with the car because the hotel is in the center of Arezzo but not into the limited traffic area.

When we arrived from the train station we found it very quickly. It was nice to walk through the old city and the shopping area. We then went to have dinner to a place close by and we had a beautiful time (nice and local food for a reasonable price). The staying was pleasant, everything was quiet and well organized. The people from the hotel were very polite and made a nice effort to make us feel comfortable, including a place to park and intertenet for free. Very good.
